Smart Tools for Caregivers

Old people having fun activity

At Heavenly Walk-In Tubs, we’re proud of what our products provide for seniors and others who have movement or other bathing issues. A walk-in bathtub allows for both safety and comfort among those who need bits of assistance with certain bathing elements.

For caregivers who spend lots of time assisting seniors, this kind of technology is a huge help. Over 65 million Americans are non-professional caregivers, often family members, and this process can be difficult and requires some occasional assistance. With that in mind, here are a few other themes or technologies we recommend to caregivers.

Bathing Routines

While our portable walk-in tubs are a huge benefit to many seniors within the bathing realm, there are still other things caregivers can do to improve that experience. A daily hygiene regimen is very important to developing a routine, which can show major improvements for quality of life. Look for ways to standardize the hygiene experience, including ways to help seniors retain their independence and perform as many of their own tasks as they’re able to.

Medication Reminders Smart Tools for Caregivers

In many cases, caregivers are relatively overloaded with a number of different responsibilities while caring for a senior. This is especially true if the caregiver is non-professional and is maintaining full-time employment along with their caregiver duties.

Wherever possible, look for ways to supplement your memory within scheduling. One good area here is a medication reminder, which can be on something as simple as a smartphone. These help caregivers remember the proper dosages at the proper times, a big benefit for some seniors who may have to take several medications each day.

PERS System

Short for Personal Emergency Response System, a PERS device is a fantastic technology that allows seniors to always be safe even when their caregiver is not present. Not all caregivers can be present 24 hours a day, so a PERS device has the capability to alert both the caregiver and other medical professionals if an emergency takes place. This might include a fall, trouble breathing, or heart- and pulse-related issues that signal a medical emergency.
